Swiss food manufacturer Huegli has announced that it plans to double the size of its UK head office and on-site production facilities.

The private-label firm said today (21 February) that it plans to extend the facility in Redditch to “meet increased customer demand” and provide “two dedicated savoury and sweet manufacturing environments” to help it expand its range.

The extension will enable Huegli to increase its production capacity and improve processes across the business. It will also roll out a fully automatic scanning and traceability system, which it introduced in late 2010.

Commenting on the plans, managing director Richard Bailey said: “The factory extension allows us to meet existing customer demand while continuing to pursue opportunities to work with new customers across a variety of sectors. We shall be able to offer dedicated sweet and savoury production lines and manufacture products at our UK site, such as sauces and bouillons, which have traditionally been made in Huegli’s European factories.”

The company said the extension would be complete in the spring.
