UK cake maker Inter Link Foods has reported a 33% increase in turnover for the six months to 30 October to £44.2m (US$82.6m).


The company, which makes private label, branded and licensed cake products, said earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 31% to £4.53m. Profit before tax rose 16% to £2.08m.


Inter Link Foods said its trading performance in the first half of the year was in line with expectations. Like-for-like sales growth was approximately 14% throughout the period with similar levels continuing through the first ten weeks of the second half. The company said it looked forward to the future “with considerable confidence”.


Inter Link Foods made 75 million bakewell tarts last year, and used over 1,500 tons of mincemeat for Christmas 2004.
