Irish retailing combine Musgrave Group has acquired the Northern Irish food wholesaler and cash-and-carry operator J&J Haslett.
 
J&J Haslett, which supplies around 200 Mace and 70 XL Stop and Shop stores and also operates the seven-outlet Holmes cash and carry chain, generated turnover of GBP192m in 2006, and employs 360 people.
 
Musgrave further announced that on completion of the deal, Michael Hamilton, managing director, and Ronnie Lewis, finance director, would be leaving J&J Haslett. Martin Kelleher, currently SuperValu sales director in the Republic of Ireland, is to take over as managing director.
