Kavli, the UK cheese spread and dip manufacturer, is launching a range of cheese triangles under its Primula brand.
The new range comes in two flavours – cheese and chive, as well as cheese and ham – and is being launched in a bid to compete with Kraft Foods’ DairyLea, the company said.
“The triangle sector now represents just under half of the total cheese spread market and our research suggested that purchasers were becoming tired of the choice of only plain cheese available from a variety of different brands in a variety of pack sizes. They were interested in something different,” said Craig Brooks, marketing director at Kavli.
The portions come in eight foil wrapped triangles and contain 10% fat. The cheese and chive triangles will be available in Morrisons initially.
A spokesperson for Primula told just-food: “We are convinced the new triangles will be good competition for our competitors as there aren’t any flavoured triangles on the market at the moment.”
