Irish dairy group Kerrygold has opened a new GBP30m (US$48m) cheese packing facility in Leek, Staffordshire.
Announcing the opening, the company said that the move marks “a new era” in the history of the group.
“We believe it represents a significant achievement in becoming ‘best in class’ in the dairy sector,” Kerrygold Company’s MD Carl Ravenhall said at the opening ceremony.
“The new factory helps us to consolidate our position as the UK’s largest retail supplier of cheese, sets a new benchmark for process efficiency and hygiene standards, and provides additional capacity to support the future growth of the business,” he continued.
Kerrygold currently supplies over 3.5m packs of cheese a week to over 30 customers across more 400 product lines.
