Struggling UK retailer Kwik Save has confirmed that it is reopening 20 of the 79 stores it closed at the end of May on Wednesday (13 June).

“All staff who were employed at the affected stores at the time of closure have been written to and invited back to work for the company,” Kwik Save said

The group, which is in the midst of a financial crisis that could reportedly see it go into administration at the end of the week, told just-food that the news comes following “lengthy discussions with financial backers”.

However, the group declined to elaborate on the details of the agreements reached. Kwik Save also declined to comment on the possibility of securing additional funding or putting together a rescue package.
