UK confectioner Lees Foods is on the look-out for acquisitions after posting a set of robust first-half results.

The Scotland-based firm wants to expand the business, which saw operating profit leap 65% during the six months to the end of June. Profits reached GBP417,000 (US$845,000) on the back of a 12% rise in turnover to GBP7.9m.

Chairman and chief executive Raymond Miquel said new products had boosted sales, while the company had managed to absorb rising costs.

“We continue to extend our product range and source new customers in developing our existing businesses,” Miquel said. “We are actively seeking acquisitions which will enable us to expand the group.”
