Lock Inspection Systems launched its newly-designed range of checkweighers at this year’s PPMA exhibition. The result of extensive R & D into the needs of the food industry worldwide, the innovative WeighChek series incorporates up-to-the-minute processing technology to provide industry leading levels of accuracy, ease-of-use and reliability.

“Improved technical performance, simplified ease-of-use and enhanced integration with management information and quality control systems were the three key objectives in the development of the WeighChek series” explains Mike Randall, Chairman at Lock. “The WeighChek machines are easy to install, easy to use and easy to integrate – altogether a winning package.”

Rapid, reliable and accurate data processing
The WeighChek series uses fully-protected dynamic loadcells – approved by the OIML – backed up by high-speed Motorola 32-bit microprocessors and real-time weigh signal processing to improve accuracy and processing speeds. Unlike PC-based processing systems, these powerful microprocessors are purpose-designed for demanding industrial applications to provide long life and high system reliability.

Integration with the user’s existing management information and quality control systems is made simple by the provision of RS232 and RS485 ports on all machines. A number of WeighChek machines may be networked together and control and performance data transmitted between each machine and the user’s management information system.

Rugged and reliable
Supplied in fully waterproof stainless steel construction to IP65 rating or in painted form to IP54 rating, the WeighChek series is constructed to withstand the aggressive cleaning conditions encountered in the food industry. High power, long-life brushless AC motors drive the WeighChek’s transport conveyors, further enhancing system reliability and minimising maintenance costs.

Easy to use
All WeighChek machines are available with a choice of two user-interface panels. The standard, high-utility panel’s touch-screen display is extremely user-friendly and features in-built operating software. The second option is a hard-wearing keypad membrane. Both panel options feature an electroluminescent screen – overcoming problems associated with LCD or VF displays.

Easy to read graphics display the weigh-pulse for each product passage; a powerful tool for trouble-shooting, training and rapidly optimising any new pack/speed combination. The screen will also display any background ‘mechanical’ noise experienced by the loadcell, making it easy to identify corrective actions if optimum weighing accuracy is not being achieved.

Simple to install
The compact design of the WeighChek series permits installation in the most confined of line layouts. As a world-leading supplier of metal detection, Lock will also deliver a combined checkweigher/metal detector on a space-saving unitary frame. Integrated electrically as well as mechanically, this user-friendly solution provides the ultimate check for contamination and quality control while saving valuable line space. Lock will configure the optimum system to suit a customer’s specific space, QA and HACCP requirements.

Renowned for its customised inspection systems, Lock supplies metal detection and checkweighing equipment to key industry players worldwide. Lock has offices in the UK, the Netherlands, France and the US in addition to a network of world-wide distributors.
