Mars Inc said today (19 April) that it is to cut 45 roles from its factory in Slough in a “reorganisation” of the business.
The announcement comes just a month after the chocolate firm started construction on a GBP5.2m (US$7.9m) upgrade of its chocolate R&D facility in the UK town.

Fiona Dawson, managing director of Mars Chocolate, said the cuts – a maximum of 45 – will affect mainly manufacturing roles.
“We are reorganising our business at the moment,” Dawson said. “[It is] part of ongoing restructuring.”
She added: “We’re absolutely committed to Slough. We’ve invested GBP75m in Slough in the last two years.”
The new facility will house all chocolate research and development activities and will feature kitchens for preparing and creating products, laboratories and a pilot line to enable products to be test-manufactured on a larger scale.
