UK-based food manufacturer Cranswick, which specialises in meat production, has acquired locally-based business Packington Pork.
The plc announced this morning (17 December) that it had bought the company from the Mercer family. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Packington Pork comprises pig farming and rearing, and specialises in the production of British free-range and outdoor-bred pigs.
The business operates predominantly from sites across Staffordshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire in the English Midlands.
Cranswick said the transaction increases its self-sufficiency in UK pigs processed to more than 25%, “securing direct control over a significant part of its supply chain for premium pigs, reinforcing its commitment to developing a sustainable and traceable farm-to-fork operation”.
The transaction does not include the Packington Free-Range business, which will be retained by the Mercer family as a stand-alone operation under the Packington brand.
