UK dairy farmer owned co-operative Milk Link has opened an innovation centre in Devon.

The facility is the central focus for Milk Link’s new product and packaging development activity, the company said today (8 September), and it’s opening was accompanied by the launch of three products.

Tickler…Cheddar That Spreads, is a brand extension of Tickler extra-mature cheddar. Milk Link is currently undertaking a retail trial of the product with expectations of a launch nationally later this year.

In a bid to meet demand for lighter cheese products, Milk Link has developed a cheese with 30% less fat than standard cheddar in a medium strength. The product will be launched nationally in November, followed by a mature variety in February 2010.

Milk Link has also added a chocolate variant to its Moo ESL flavoured milk range. Chocolate Creaminess is made with “natural ingredients”, the company claims.
