Milk Link, the UK dairy firm, is to close a production site in Scotland, the company has announced.

The company plans to “consolidate all milk production” into its Crediton dairy, a move that will lead to the closure of the site at Kirkcudbright.

Chief executive Neil Kennedy said the closure of Kirkcudbright and the expansion of Crediton would lead to “greater efficiencies” for the business.

Kennedy said: “As a farmer owned co-operative our primary objective must be to deliver sustainable returns to our farmer members and this is particularly vital at a time of considerable pressure and volatility both in the dairy sector and economy in general.”
