UK retailer Morrisons has named the man set to become the company’s chairman.
The company said today (12 July) that Sir Ian Gibson would take up the role no later than the middle of March next year when current incumbent Sir Ken Morrison stands down.
In the meantime, Sir Ian will become deputy chairman of Morrisons on 1 September. He has previously been deputy chairman of Asda and currently holds roles including director of UK bakery group Greggs.
Sir Ken Morrison said: “Sir Ian Gibson’s combination of retail sector and strategic Board experience will no doubt be vital at this important stage in the company’s evolution and I am delighted that he has decided to join the Morrisons team.”
