UK supermarket giant Morrisons has pledged to create ‘hundreds’ of its convenience store format over the next few years.
The company said its M-Local store format, launched in April, has proved so successful it plans to open hundreds more.
Although it could not comment on specific regions or a timescale on openings as it is “confidential” information, Morrisons did confirm the c-sector will form a major part of its expansion plans.
A spokesperson for the company said: “We’re growing more than our competitors and convenience is a key project for us at the moment, alongside lots of other things.
“Millions of customers don’t have access to M-Local and we plan to give that access to as many as possible.”
The first M-Local store opened in the Yorkshire town of Ilkely and the retailer opened its second in the Cheshire town of Wilmslow in July.
