The company has moved to lower 2,000 prices, action that comes just days after Tesco and Asda launched something of a price war in the UK retail sector.

Morrisons trading director Martyn Jones said: “These 2,000 more lower prices confirm our commitment to giving Morrisons customers consistently great value.”

Asda fired the first salvo last Friday (15 June) by announcing GBP250m (US$495.1m) in cuts across 10,000 prices

At the same time, Tesco said it would make price cuts worth GBP270m on 3,000 products from this week. The UK’s largest supermarket said it was its biggest-ever price-cut campaign.
