Assured Food Standards (AFS), the organisation behind the Red Tractor logo, has appointed ex-Marks and Spencer executive David Gregory as chairman.
Gregory joins the board at the end of September and takes over as chairman from the beginning of December after Colin Smith stepped down from the post at the end of his six-year term.
Gregory he most recently held the post of director of technology for M&S’s food division. He has also held several industry positions, including governor of the Institute of Food Research and governor of the British Nutrition Foundation.
The appointment was made by the Ownership Body of AFS, which is made up of various UK food industry trade bodies.
