UK retail group Marks & Spencer has named ex-Waitrose managing director Steven Esom as director of food.
Esom’s appointment comes just a day after his departure from Waitrose was announced. He is to join the business on 1 June.
M&S also announced that Carl Leaver, formerly CEO of the De Vere Group, is to join the company as director of international business, succeeding Richard Wolff who is to retire after 36 years with the company.
“I am delighted that Steven Esom and Carl Leaver are joining M&S,” said CEO Stuart Rose. “They will bring new skills and experience to the team.” Both Esom and Leaver are to join the retailer’s executive committee.
In addition, M&S has moved current director of food Guy Farrant to the post of director of retail and outlets Current director of retail Anthony Thompson is to leave the company.
