UK retailer Marks and Spencer is to extend its trial of selling branded products to 20 more stores across the south-east of England.
The extended trial, to begin in April, includes the sale of branded products including Tetley tea and Hellman’s mayonnaise.
Last year, for the first time in its 85-year history, the retailer began stocking brands in 19 stores in the Northeast in a bid to draw in shoppers.
M&S told just-food today (16 March) that the trial is “very similar” to the one it launched last year and that it often extends trials to different regions.
The retailer has selected shops in north-west London and Hertfordshire to carry the 350 branded products.

By GlobalDataAt the beginning of the year, M&S saw its sales drop 5.2% in the 13 weeks to 27 December.
Since then the retailer has announced plans to close 27 stores and cut over 1,200 jobs in a bid to slash costs.
Analysts have suggested the group disposes of its Simply Food stores if it wants to grow sales and profit in the medium term.
