Unilever today (27 May) announced that Nestlé executive Pier Luigi Sigismondi will join the Anglo-Dutch consumer goods giant as its new chief supply chain officer.

“Pier Luigi Sigismondi joins from Nestlé, where he spent severn years in various senior roles including VP of manufacturing and I&R for Nestle Mexico from 2005 – to date. Previous to this role, he was the VP of corporate industrial performance for Nestle SA from 2002 – 2005,” a spokesperson for Unilever told just-food today (27 May).

Unilever CEO Paul Polman, himself a former Nestlé executive, said that Sigismondi’s experience will enable him to play a “major role” in transforming Unilever’s supply chain into a “customer focused operation.

“His appointment underlines the importance of the supply chain function to our business,” Polman said.

“I am thrilled to have this opportunity to join Unilever at this exciting time in its transformation and I am looking forward enormously to the challenge of building on the changes already made,” Sigismondi said.
