Green & Black’s

scooped the best organic product award for their new White Chocolate organic ice cream at the eighth Natural Products News awards.

The White Chocolate Ice Cream was launched at Natural Products Europe, an exhibition that highlights products for a sustainable future. The launch of the new variety follows on from Green & Black’s move into the ice cream sector at last month at the International Food Exhibition in London.

The show played host to major and smaller players in the health food and organic sector. Those displaying their products at the exhibition included, Go Organic the newly acquired brand of Unilever Bestfoods, major US organic dairy firm Horizon Organics, and through distributors, PepsiCo’s SoBe herbal infused beverages and fellow US food and drinks giant, Smucker.

Some of the more interesting product innovations were in the herbal/botanical tea sector. Dr Stuart’s Botanical Teas launched a Kava Kava blend, while another UK firm Higher Living presented a new range of tea blends based on ancient Indian Ayurvedic herbs (known for their healing properties).

The exhibition also celebrated the part that independent retailers have played in pushing the frontiers for natural and organic products. The winner of the best natural product retailer went to London-based Fresh and Wild.
