Premier Foods plc has decided to divide its business into three units to focus on what CEO Gavin Darby called the “most promising growth opportunities” for the UK food group.
Three divisions have been created at the Mr Kipling and Ambrosia maker – grocery, sweet treats and international.
Alex Whitehouse has been hired from Reckitt Benckiser to become managing director of Premier’s grocery division.
Graham Hunter, who previously worked for companies including Tangerine Confectionery, Fox’s Biscuits and Mars Inc, will join Premier to head up its sweet treats arm. Hunter’s most recent role was at Tangerine, where he was CEO but left at the start of the year.
Peter Ellis, who joined Premier in 2012 after 16 years at Campbell Soup Co., will take up the position of general manager for the company’s international business. The role adds to Ellis’ original responsibilities for Premier’s international sales.
The restructure sees the end of the role of commercial director. Ian Deste, who held the position will step down after a transition period of helping execute the remainder of the company’s 2014 commercial plans.
