The Real Good Food Co., the UK bakery and sugar supplier, said today (26 January) that its annual pre-tax profits are set to beat market expectations by around 25%.

The company, which supplies to retailers including Marks and Spencer and Waitrose, said “strong progress” across its business units had led to the buoyant forecast.

The group’s retail sugar sales hit “record levels” and sales to industrial customers rose “strongly” in the second half of the year.

Hayden’s, Real Good Co.’s bakery division, saw sales to three of its major customers – including M&S and Waitrose – increase “significantly”.

Executive chairman Pieter Totté said: “I am delighted by the progress we have made over the past year in developing new sales, expanding our product ranges and broadening our customer base. After a strong start to the current year, it gives me confidence that we are well placed to build on this progress.”
