R&R Ice Cream, the firm that manufactures Tesco’s venture ice cream brand Chokablok, has confirmed that it is rolling out the product into other sales channels.

“We have identified new opportunities in the impulse sector which do not compete with Tesco – like leisure sites such as Knowsley Safari Park and London Zoo – which will bring further valuable exposure for the brand,” a spokesperson for R&R told just-food.

R&R said the move to extend the brand to additional sales channels was relatively straight forward, as Chokablok “clearly meets a gap in the market”.

“This impulse product is only very slightly different [to Chokablok available in Tesco] so there was no additional product development work to undertake,” the spokesperson said.

There are currently no plans for similar moves with other R&R brands.

Tesco did not respond to requests for comment.
