Irish food maker Kepak Group, the owner of convenience foods brand Rustlers, has acquired the Feasters brand from Anglo Beef Processors (ABP) subsidiary Eatwell.
A spokesperson for Kepak confirmed the purchase of the microwave snack brand to just-food today (6 February). The company did not disclose financial details of the transaction.
Peter Jackson, chief executive of Kepak’s convenience food arm, said the acquisition would strengthen the company’s position as “a major force in the UK’s food-to-go market”.
The Feasters brand has been owned by ABP since 2005. In recent years it has expanded its range of microwaveable beef and chicken burgers and now includes jacket potatoes and fish finger sandwiches.
However, ABP convenience foods managing director Paul McBride said that development of the Feasters brand was “not core to ABP’s chilled beef and frozen convenience foods business’s future growth”.
The majority of employees have transferred to Kepak, the company said.
