UK supermarket chain Sainsbury’s has appointed Stephen Nelson as marketing director and Mike Coupe as trading director.

Both will be on Sainsbury’s operating board. Nelson moves across from his current role as Sainsbury’s trading director, while Coupe joins Sainsbury’s from Big Food Group where he was a board director of the group and managing director of frozen food retailer Iceland.
Nelson joined the board of Sainsbury’s Supermarkets in July 2003 from Diageo where he worked in the UK and the US following an early career with Sainsbury’s.
Coupe spent his early career with Tesco before joining Asda and becoming trading director on its executive board.
