Sainsbury’s has claimed to be the first UK retailer to launch a “complete offering” of chilled Mexican food.

The company today (7 September) launched a range of 20 products to meet rising demand for Mexican cuisine.

Sainsbury’s product developer Romilly Edelmann said: “As the trend for Mexican restaurants and food trucks is on the rise, we’re proud to have developed a range of dishes that capture the flavours and vibrancy that are proving so popular.”

The range includes a chicken fajita kit, Mexican red rice and dishes such as Prawn Veracruz. The products went on sale in Sainsbury’s stores today, priced from GBP1.50 for corn bread to GBP6 for the fajita kit.
