Sainsbury’s trial of Homeport secure home delivery boxes is set to be extended beyond southwest London after trials of the device proved successful.
The boxes, which are fixed to customer’s houses, have been trialled for six months and the retailer is happy that they offer a secure and efficient method of delivering goods ordered over the Internet.
Mark Lunn, marketing director at Homeport, explained to Retail Week: “The six-month Sainsbury’s trial has gone well and we are deciding when and where it will roll out. It will be done quickly and with several stores.”
Homeport is also believed to be close to signing a similar trial deal with grocery leader Tesco.
