More salmon products have been withdrawn by Tesco and Costco in the UK, the Food Standards Agency has reported today (19 February).

The fresh Scottish salmon products supplied by Marine Harvest, have had to be recalled due to a risk of taint, resulting in an unpleasant taste.

Since the original alert issued last week, some of the UK’s leading supermarket chains, including Asda, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Morrisons, have had to recall a large number of salmon products.

Marine Harvest is investigating the cause of the taint, which isn’t believed to be a risk to health. At present, they believe the source of the contamination is diesel but have not identified the precise source yet.
