Darrell Maton, store systems executive, explained to VNUnet Newswire that Somerfield “is one year into a three-year ‘Building Block’ programme, which is being implemented to improve the organisation’s efficiency and the service it provides to its customers.
“It’s a three-year programme of improvement and simplification and puts in the bits that are missing.”
The group has replaced and upgraded its point-of-sale tills across its 1300-strong chain, and this new infrastructure will provide the base for an advanced customer relationship management (CRM) system.
Maton added: “An advanced CRM function will move our business forward.”
