Spar UK confirmed today (17 November) that its managing director Jerry Marwood plans to leave the company in the summer of 2011.

The grocery retailer has appointed a search company to seek a successor for Marwood, and it said an announcement will be made when the appointment has taken place.

Spar spokesperson Peter Blakemore said: “Jerry has a desire to move on to seek new challenges and we have been working with him to map out a process which would ensure a smooth transition.”

Commenting on the move Marwood said: “I still have a number of exciting business initiatives to implement, a replacement to find and a hand over to complete all of which will take some time. Until then it’s business as usual.”
