Capper & Co., a wholesaler for Spar stores in the UK, has confirmed it is in talks with another company over its sale.
The wholesaler, which supplies over 500 Spar stores in Wales and south-east England told just-food today (21 February) that it has been in talks for “some time”, although it added that “nothing has been decided” on the business’s future.
According to report in Wales, a deal for GBP30m (US$48.6m) has already been agreed by an unnamed company operating a Spar franchise and supply operation.
In a Companies House report for the year to end of April 2010, Capper & Co. recorded a 36% drop in net profit to GBP1.2m. Meanwhile, turnover was up 1.9% to GBP288.7m.
Capper & Co. is the third largest of six Spar wholesalers in the UK. Spar has some 2,600 stores across the country.
