Crisps and snacks producer Sun Valley will be placing emphasis on its healthy You Are What You Eat range at the forthcoming Convenience Retailing Show (CRS) in Birmingham.
The company said the You Are What You Eat range is now on sale in over 50% of the big petrol station chains with confirmed listings and growing sales in many independent retail chains, thanks in part to its presence at CRS last year.
“CRS was a great year for us last year, generating a great level of interest from convenience retailers and helping with our distribution levels,” marketing manager Jonathan Barr said.
Barr pointed out that convenience retailers have to look to meet all consumer needs, not just impulse and convenience but also those driven by trends such as health and wellness.
Since launching in June 2005, Sun Valley’s You Are What You Eat brand has expanded to sales of around GBP5m (US$9.74m), the company said, and is the fastest growing nut brand. Barr added: “We set about creating a range of ‘healthy’ and ‘healthier’ snacks in response to the change in consumer trends over the last few years.”
