UK sugar and sweetener manufacturer Tate & Lyle has announced a 20% increase in the capacity of its Krystar crystalline fructose plant operated by the A E Staley Manufacturing Company in Lafayette, Indiana.

The company expects to complete the expansion by August 2003. No additional staffing or increase in corn grind will be required.

D. Lynn Grider, president and CEO of Staley, said that demand for crystalline fructose, a type of sweetener, has grown steadily since the company introduced Krystar in 1987.
