Tesco has withdrawn its own-brand frozen steam white rice in the UK because the product contains egg not listed on the label.

As a result of a manufacturing error, a small number of packs have been filled with Tesco frozen egg fried rice, an alert from the UK’s Food Standards Agency said.

“This makes the product unsafe for individuals who are allergic to egg, and are advised not to eat this product,” the FSA said.

The alert centres on a 4 x 200g pack of rice with a best before date of July 2008.
