A spokesperson for the group told just-food that a broken crane at its Gloucester distribution centre “impeded the speed” of its distribution operations. As a consequence the company fell behind on shipping its orders.

A spike in demand for ice cream caused by the warm weather in the UK exasperated the problem, the spokesperson added.

“We regret that we have been experiencing problems supplying orders to our customers… We have informed our customers that we are reducing promotional activity for June,” the spokesperson said.

Advertising will remain unaffected, however, the group will be cutting back in-store promotional activity.
