Unilever has revealed plans to upgrade and expand the production facilities at its Coleman’s Mustard factory in Norwich – but admitted that some jobs could be lost as a result.
The manufacturer said today (31 March) that it plans to invest around GBP2.6m (US$4.2m) in the Norwich site, which it said will be “critical to support the future growth of the business”.
However, it added, the changes mean there may be a “reduction of approximately 20 roles on site”.
A company spokesperson told just-food that it has entered a period of consultation with its employees and will “continue to communicate and engage with them in a timely way as we seek to implement these changes”.
The company confirmed that the move was the largest investment it has ever made at the site and it expects the upgrade to be completed by mid-2012.
