United Biscuits has expanded its McVitie’s ‘morning goods’ offering in the UK with the launch of mini croissants.

Available from the beginning of May, the range comprises two variants with chocolate or strawberry flavour fillings.

The range can be eaten “straight from the pack, on-the-go, or heated in the oven”, the company said today (20 April). Both variants come in packs of seven and have an MRRP of GBP1.19 (US$1.73).

Mike Benton, marketing controller at The McVitie’s Cake Company, said: “People are finding that their lifestyles are becoming increasingly busy and it is more difficult to find the time to eat breakfast. This launch of mini croissants provides consumers with the perfect solution for a quick breakfast or snack on the go.”

The new range expands upon the McVitie’s existing morning goods offering of Waffles and will be packed in a block-bottomed bag.

A spokesperson for the brand told just-food: “United Biscuits is constantly looking to develop and evolve its brands to provide new innovative products for consumers and retailers alike, but there are currently no plans for additional launches this year.

“The campaign will be supported through trade advertising, scrolling posters and sampling in store with a total investment in excess of GBP300,000.”
