United Biscuits has announced plans to extend its McVitie’s range with a breakfast muffin and a line of fruit loaves.
The UK food manufacturer said announced today (11 April) that the Breakfast Muffin contains cranberries, sultanas, apricots, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, as well as cinnamon and spices and will be sold in single packs. The company said that the pack features clear packaging, enabling the display of more of the product, with the “fresh look” to encourage consumers into the cake category.
The company is also launching McVities ‘Time For Tea’ Loaf Cakes in mixed berry, and lemon and ginger varieties.
The mixed berry variety contains raspberries, cranberries and strawberries, while the lemon and ginger variety is infused with lemon and aromas of ginger.
McVitie’s Cake Company marketing controller Mike Benton said: “As the summer approaches, consumers are increasingly looking for lighter alternatives to the comforting foods eaten during the colder winter months. These two new products respond to the growing consumer demand for non chocolate sweet snacks during the warmer months.”
The loaf cakes will have an MRRP of GBP1.59 (US$2.6), while the breakfast muffin will have an MRRP of GBP0.92.
