A meat plant Dutch food group Vion plans to close in the UK has reportedly attracted interest from potential buyers.
A report on The Scotsman‘s website says two parties have expressed an interest in buying the Hall’s of Broxburn facility. Last month, Vion said it would shut the loss-making plant, putting 1,700 jobs under threat.
The Scottish government has set up a taskforce, including representatives of the Hall’s of Broxburn site, union officials, politicians and members of the meat sector to look at the future of the plant.
A spokesperson for the Scottish government declined to comment on the claims of interest in the facility.
“I’m not confirming or denying anything,” a spokesperson for the Scottish government told just-food, citing reasons of “confidentiality”.
A spokesperson for Vion declined to comment.
