UK grocery retailer Waitrose has promoted Rob Collins to retail director.

Collins, Waitrose’s personnel director, will take up the role in January. He will be responsible for the retailer’s branches nationwide, as well as its e-commerce, convenience and hospitality offers.

He will replace Tony Solomons, who announced his retirement yesterday (17 November) after 30 years with the company. Divisional registrar Helen Hyde will succeed Collins as personnel director.

Waitrose managing director Mark Price said: “Both Rob and Helen bring to their new roles a wealth of experience and a proven track record within Waitrose – their leadership will be invaluable to their respective directorates as we enter the exciting next stages in our development.”
