UK grocery retailer Waitrose said it has “continued to outshine the industry” after booking a rise in third-quarter sales.
Yesterday (10 November) the company said sales were up 10.1% for the quarter ended 30 October. Its online business is growing, boosted by the opening of a ‘dark store’ in Acton last month, the retailer added.
During the quarter, Waitrose launched its Brand Price Match and promotions across its stores. The company also opened five branches, three convenience stores, began a convenience format trial Waitrose and announced refurbishments at its Canary Wharf and Sevenoaks branches.
Waitrose retail director Tony Solomons said: “Looking ahead to the final quarter, we’re gearing up for Christmas with a fantastic range of products and a strong marketing campaign.”
The retailer posted a weekly sales increase of 8.2% for the week ended 5 November.
