UK convenience retailer Costcutter has appointed a new chief executive, with Darcy Willson-Rymer replacing Nick Ivel.

Willson-Rymer was the former boss at gift retailer Clinton Cards, which went into administration earlier this year. His career also includes a three-year stint as MD of Starbucks in the UK and Ireland.

Ivel has spent 14 years at Costcutter and said “now is the right time for a change of leadership and a change of direction for me”.

He added: “I leave Costcutter Supermarkets Group in a strong position and with a team capable of leading the business to the next stage in its development.”

Willson-Rymer will take up the role on 10 September.
