Wyke Farms has said it is “disappointed” that Morrisons has cancelled its meeting to discuss a de-listing by the UK retailer of its cheddar range.

Wyke was told by Morrisons earlier this month that its cheddar will no longer be sold at its stores from mid-September following an “e-auction” for shelf space.

As a result, the dairy firm launched a Facebook campaign to get its Wyke’s Mature, Extra Mature and Vintage cheddars re-listed.

Wyke was scheduled to meet with Morrisons this week, however, a spokesperson for the company told just-food today that the meeting had been cancelled by the retailer.

“Morrisons cancelled the meeting and said there’ll be another opportunity in the new year to get our brands back in store. They didn’t give a reason for cancelling the meeting but said they stand by their decision to de-list the product.”

The spokesperson said Wyke was “disappointed” the meeting was cancelled but that it is feeling “positive” it will gain a re-listing in the New Year.
