Greencore is looking at further boosting its business in the foodservice and convenience channels after the two UK acquisitions announced today (13 December).

Development director Fergal Leamy said the acquisitions of specialist foodservice supplier The Ministry of Cake and a Danone mineral water facility in Wales were part of a strategy of expanding in a number of channels.

“If you look at our strategy, our desire is to move into more channels, such as foodservice and convenience,” Leamy told just-food. “It’s not so much diversification but recognition that there is significant growth in the channels we want to play in.”

Greencore, which makes a range of own-label products for UK and European multiple retailers, would look at the potential for further acquisitions, Leamy added.

“We’ll continue to look for good, solid, bolt-on acquisitions that can add significant value to our business,” he said.
