Barry Callebaut is on the lookout for small-scale acquisitions that would compliment its gourmet chocolate business, the Swiss chocolatier has told just-food.

“In our gourmet business we are looking for small add-on acquisitions to compliment the business we already have or add expertise,” a spokesperson for the company said today (6 November).

Barry Callebaut indicated that it does not want to buy new brands as it already operates three gourmet brands. The company also recently inked a distribution deal to distribute a Nestlé foodservice chocolate brand.

The spokesperson indicated that Barry Callebaut has set a total budget of CHF5-25m (US$4.3m-21.4m). This will fund an undetermined number of small acquisitions.
