Emmi has told just-food that it is not currently planning to take full ownership of AVH Dairy Trade, following news that it has acquired a 70% stake in the Netherlands-based dairy firm.

Emmi announced yesterday (7 January) that it has acquired the stake for an undisclosed transaction value, in order to further develop its business in the fast-growing, niche sheep’s and goat’s milk sectors.

When asked whether Emmi would seek to acquire the remainder of AVH Dairy Trade, a spokespserson for the Swizterland-based dairy giant told just-food today that “for the time being, there are no plans.

“We are quite happy with majority shares,” she added, citing Emmi’s majority stakes in Kaiki in Spain and Diprola in France as other exmaples.

AVH Dairy Trade is one of the leading international traders in goat’s and sheep’s milk, with sales of EUR16.5m (US$21.6m) in 2012.
