Rectory Foods has insisted that the launch of its Hot Chicken Company (HCC) brand in the UK retail sector will tap into the growing demand for convenience and quality.
Rectory already distributes the HCC brand to the foodservice sector but the company said “strong demand” has prompted it to introduce a seven-strong range of frozen convenience items.
Speaking to just-food today (26 April), Rectory MD Nick Bowyer insisted that the HCC brand’s point of difference from other breaded chicken products on the market was its quality.
“Our entire HCC range is made with quality whole muscle chicken breast and our Southern Fried options use a unique blend of breadcrumbs, herbs and spices with a kick from spices and peppers. The HCC range offers a quality product at an affordable price,” he said.
Bowyer also insisted the range provides a ‘better for you’ option as it is oven cooked.
“The HCC range is an oven-cooked range, making it a healthier alternative to deep fat fried products. The coated products obviously contain salt but are within recommended levels,” he said.

“Discussions are currently taking place with Morrisons and we hope to start dialogue with other multiples soon,” Bowyer revealed.
