Canadian dairy cooperative Agropur has acquired Iowa-based cheese producer Green Meadows Foods.

The Iowa facility will now be part of Agropur arm Trega Foods and will be overseen by Trega Foods’ president, Doug Simon.

Simon reports to Agropur cheese and functional products division’s president, Louis Lefebvre.

“This most recent acquisition represents a great fit with our current operations and will allow us to keep building a strong foundation for continued growth”, said Agropur’s CEO, Pierre Claprood. No financial details were disclosed.

The Green Meadows Foods facility processes around 400m litres of milk a year and produces over 35m kg of cheese a year, including more than ten different varieties of American and Italian cheeses.
