German discount retailer Aldi has launched a private-label organic food range across its stores in the US.
The Simply Nature line launched last week as a ‘special buy’, a spokesperson told just-food today (11 September). This will see the range run for a trial period initially.

“Theoretically, if the items perform well in store, [the range] will launch as a new line sometime next year,” the spokesperson said, adding that “no firm date has been set”.
The line of products, made with natural ingredients and containing no artificial colours or flavours, includes diced tomatoes, tomato and basil pasta sauce, and sweet potato tortilla chips.
Aldi first entered the US in 1976 and operates over 1,140 outlets in the country with plans to open “more than” 80 stores in 2012.
