US retailer A&P has appointed Rite Aid Corp. executive Mark Kramer as its senior vice president of operations.
Kramer will take over from Paul Wiseman, who has left the company, the firm said yesterday (20 April).
The appointment of Kramer, a former executive at A&P chain Pathmark, is the latest senior appointment at the business.
In January, A&P named former Borders CEO Ron Marshall as its chief executive in a bid to reverse continued losses at the group.
Days before Marshall’s appointment, A&P had reported nine-month losses as a result of lower margins and one-time charges. For the 40 weeks ended 5 December, the New Jersey-based company’s losses from continuing operations widened to US$622.9m compared to $5.3m in the previous year.
A&P operates the Waldbaum’s, Pathmark, Best Cellars, The Food Emporium, Super Foodmart, Super Fresh, and Food Basics banners.
